Lead in Drinking Water
In June of 2018, Act 39 was passed and placed into Pennsylvania School Code. It recommends that all public schools test for lead in drinking water. Schools were to follow the EPA recommending testing procedures and report and implement a plan, if any levels exceeded the primary drinking water standard of .015 mg/L. Any schools choosing not to test are required to discuss lead in water issues at a public meeting.
Big Spring was notified of Act 39 and consulted with Franklin Analytical, Inc. Testing was completed at Big Spring facilities on April 2, 2024. We will continue this water quality sampling on an annual basis.
